Should or not to consume litchi during pregnancy?

As summer time has started, litchi has arrived in the market. Somewhere pregnant women are getting cravings to eat litchi.They are tempted but should pregnant women eat litchi? Is this fruit safe for them or not?

There are some fruits which are forbidden to eat during pregnancy. Right amongst them, litchi is also one such fruit which is not considered safe during pregnancy. However, it contains many nutrients that can be beneficial for pregnant women. Although you can consume litchi, but women who are pregnant, women who are breastfeeding their children, they must consult their doctor once before eating litchi.

If you have in your mind somewhere, if you are in a dilemma about whether to consume litchi or not. So let me tell you that it is better not to consume litchi during pregnancy. You should avoid it as it is not safe to eat during pregnancy. According to NCBI i.e. National Center for Biotechnology Information, it is not safe to eat litchi. When you eat litchi, it can create a poison in the body which can cause allergy or the baby’s skin to crack.

Apart from this, let me tell you that litchi has a hot effect. Even though this fruit gives you cooling effect, but its intrinsic property is hot. Which can create heat in your body. It can cause imbalance somewhere in your body, it can cause sore throat, you can have problem of bleeding from nose. Not only this, sometimes the cause of ulcer in the mouth is also litchi. Due to the high sugar content in litchi, it can increase your blood sugar level somewhere. And if you have diabetes then its condition can affected. By eating litchi, your blood pressure level can also drop somewhere, that is, your blood pressure can go low. Due to which you may have blurred vision, you may feel dizzy, headache,, weakness, nausea, breathlessness and feel tired, these problems may arise to you.

So these are some of the side effects, if you are consuming litchi during pregnancy. So if you want to consume litchi, you have a lot of cravings, then first take the advice of your doctor. If your doctor approves you, then only you can consume litchi, otherwise you should not consume litchi during pregnancy.

Although friends, it is not that there are no benefits of eating litchi, a lot of nutrients are also found in litchi. As it contains vitamin-C, dietary fiber, antioxidants, potassium as well as phenolic compounds, which reduce the risk of liver damage. This can improve your immune system. Your blood pressure can remain under control. If you have the problem of constipation during this time, then it can give very good benefit in fighting it.
So you must have understood that you do not have to eat litchi during pregnancy. If you are eating, then definitely consult your doctor once.
