Improves your eyesight

It is a very normal thing during pregnancy that the eyesight go weak.
So eating carrots during pregnancy is very much beneficial for your weakening eyesight. It will improve your eye vision during pregnancy.
Also it is very good for the development of the eyesight of the baby in the womb.

Calcium for bones and teeth

Carrots has got good amount of calcium which is very good for the development of the fetus bones. This time not only women have a deficiency of calcium because most of the calcium for the development of the bones of the baby goes from women’s body. So if you are eating carrots it is somehow replenishing the depleting calcium in your body.

Helps preventing constipation

During pregnancy not having proper bowel movement is a quite common problem. If you are suffering from constipation then carrots are a boon for you because it has got good amount of fibre which helps in resolving issues related to indigestion and constipation.

Maintains Blood Pressure

During pregnancy high blood pressure is a very common problem but it is a complex problem as well. Carrot will help in maintaining the blood pressure and so you will not have problems like preeclampsia which can be a bigger problem as your pregnancy progress.

Helps in body and leg cramps

Cramps in the body, the leg cramps, the muscle cramp is a very common thing. Carrots has got good amount of phosphorus which will help in relaxing your muscles and alleviating this problem of the cramps.

Builds Immunity

Carrots got good amount of vitamin-C which is very necessary for building up your immunity. Also it is required for the absorption of iron in your body. So ultimately it is boosting the immunity of your body and also making you immune from the problems like anaemia and low haemoglobin levels.

Good source of folate

Carrots has got good amount of folic acid which is needed by the developing baby. In the first trimester primarily for building up the neural tube, for a proper initial development and to avoid any kind of the birth effects that usually occur in the first trimester. So it has got good amount of folic acid and manganese which will help in the proper development of the baby inside the womb.

Precautions before eating carrots

  • Make it sure that you are washing this vegetable properly because carrot is a root vegetable that grows under soil. This makes it more prone to bacteria. Carrots are usually eaten raw. If you are including it in your salad, peel the outer skin because they may be having some traces of chemicals that are sprayed to protect the crop.
  • Eat carrots in moderation, 1 or 2 medium size carrot a day will be enough during pregnancy.
  • In winters, if you are eating carrot’s halwa (gajar ka halwa) then make sure you don’t overeat it. This may put you in gestational diabetes risk.
    Eat max half a bowl of carrot halwa that too in a week.
